HISTORY

We are Laura Bogaert and José Miguel Paliza a couple of bicycle passionates with studies in sustainability. For us riding our is the most fun and ecological way to get to know a city. The project was born with the idea of ​​sharing this experience and the main purpose of promoting the use of the bicycle as a tool to achieve a more sustainable lifestyle.

In September 2015 we opened ZONA BICI the first bike rental shop in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo. We established in the Colonial Zone because it’s the area of the city that concentrates the most things to do and places to visit. It is also where there are the most semi pedestrian streets and shared spaces in Santo Domingo making the Zone an ideal place to ride a bicycle.

After a year of operations, we move to our new location in Arzobispo Meriño 217. From here, we started offering new services, guided tours, bike maintenance and repair, bar area and cafeteria therefore the ZONA BICI family grew.
